While the process may vary for the different business units, the general graduate recruitment process is:
 
Applicants are invited to apply through our website once advertising begins which is traditionally around March of each year.

A panel of managers and recruiters prepare a short list of candidates – we are looking for people with good academic records, team players with demonstrated problem solving, communication skills and an interest in extra curricular activities (these should all be addressed in candidate’s covering letter).

Short listed candidates are invited for interview and unsuccessful candidates are notified.

Following interviews, successful candidates are progressed to psychometric and ability testing, medical testing, reference checking and an on-site visit.

Offers will be made to successful candidates around end of July 2008 to commence employment early in 2009.

Eligibility
 
To be eligible for the Alcoa Graduate Program, it is preferable that you have completed a relevant undergraduate university degree / or similar, or have a maximum of six months left to complete your degree.
 
Consideration will also be given to recent graduates with some recent industry experience and who are available to commence immediately.
 
All applicants are required to be a permanent resident of Australia or New Zealand, or eligible to work in Australia in accordance with regulations outlined by DIAC (Department of Immigration and Citizenship) and DIMIA (Department of Immigration, Migration and Indigenous Affairs).
